In 1977, Gene Evans, after being a CPA for seventeen years, was led of the Lord to sell his accounting practice, and enter into full time traveling ministry with his wife June. They incorporated their ministry as Meet The Believers, Inc. and traveled extensively teaching Bible seminars.

In 1990, they were directed by the Holy Spirit to Douglasville, Georgia where they founded Believers Church and Gene became the pastor. June continued her traveling ministry under the ministry of Meet The Believers, Inc. In 1990 they also started a limited Bible school called Believers Bible Institute. It was at this time that the name "Believers Ministries" was chosen for the three ministries.

In 1995, friends of the Evans' Jeff Davis and his wife Kim founded a church in Elizabethton, Tennessee and asked Gene to be their pastor.

They became affiliated with Believers Ministries, and named their church Believers Family Church.

In 1996, the Evans' son Mark and his wife Robbyn founded a church in Sylvania, Georgia named Believers Church of Sylvania and they became affiliated with Believers Ministries.

In 1995, the Evans' son Mark received a God given vision to help other ministers begin churches, and with the expertise of his dad, they have been instrumental in helping found a number of other churches, with several expressing a desire to be affiliated with Believers Ministries.
